2S31 Vena Self Propelled Mortar: Mulai Dilirik Untuk Perkuat Artileri Marinir TNI AL

Kekuatan artileri swagerak sudah menjadi ciri Korps Marinir dalam gelar operasinya, sebut saja dari era 60-an ada BM-14/17, berlanjut ke RM70 Grad dan yang terbaru RM70 Vampir. Itu semua masuk ke segmen self propelled MLRS (Multi Launch Rocket System). Lantas bagaimana dengan self propelled gun atau howitzer, seperti yang saat ini terdapat di etalase Atileri Medan TNI AD? Meski belum ada tanda-tanda kea rah penggunaan self propelled howitzer, namun ada kabar terbaru bahwa Korps Baret Ungu ini akan mengadopsi self propelled mortar system.

Kabar ini mungkin membuat beberapa orang bertanya-tanya, terlebih ke penyebutan self propelled (swagerak) mortar system. Pertama analogi yang selama ini tertanam bahwa mortar (mortir) umumnya dikenal sebagai senjata bantu infanteri dengan desain tabung yang ‘simple.’ Kalau pun ada mortir yang ditempatkan di dalam platform kendaraan, seperti misalnya di panser Pindad Anoa 6×6, toh bentuk asli mortir masih nampak jelas, pun pengoperasiannya tak beda dengan mortir konvensional. Tapi lain halnya dengan self propelled mortar system yang bakal melengkapi etalase artileri Marinir ini.



Label produk yang dimaksud adalah 2S31 Vena. Sekilas pandang, 2S31Vena tak ubahnya tank reguler yang sering Anda lihat. Tapi bila ditelaah, pada bagian kubahnya yang digunakan adalah laras mortir 2A51 gun kaliber 120 mm. Karena mengusung laras mortir, memang laras 2S31 tak setebal laras howitzer, begitu pun dalam hal jarak tembak, mortir tidak bisa sejauh tembakan dari howitzer. Mortir dengan larasnya yang halus (smoothbore) dan tekanan penembakan lebih rendah (low pressure), tak ayal menempati posisi sebagai senjata dukungan jarak dekat andalan bagi infanteri.

Korps Marinir TNI AL sejatinya taka sing dengan mortir kaliber besar (120 mm). Di era 60-an, tepatnya pada persiapan Operasi Trikora, Marinir sudah menggunakan M43 120 mm, mortir tarik buatan Rusia yang dilengkapi two wheel carriage. 2S31Vena pun tergolong fleksibel untuk urusan amunisi 120 mm. Vena dapat menembakkan aneka jenis proyektil mortir 120 mm termasuk proyektil mortir standar NATO, dan juga proyektil 120 mm untuk gun/mortar buatan Russia. Jenis-jenis peluru yang dapat ditembakkan diantaranya HEAT, Armor Piercing, HE-Frag, dan Kitolov Laser Guided Munition untuk penembakan presisi jarak jauh.

The Secret Behind Terrex

As Singapore Technologies Kinetics announces the delivery of two prototype 8x8 Terrex 3 vehicles to Australia to participate in trials, it is not as well know where the vehicle came from.

In fact the prototypes were built in Ireland by engineering and technology firm Timoney, based in Navan, which has been better known in the past for providing drive train and axles.

Terrex 3 weighs 35t and is not amphibious, like the previous variants that were. Simon Wilkins, business development director at Timoney, told Shephard that with a staff of 35 and their workshop facility they managed to build the two prototype Terrex 3 vehicles in just eight weeks after the first parts arrived in Ireland in February.

Looking ahead to the UK’s Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV) programme, Wilkins expects all the usual vehicle manufacturing suspects to be there and believes there is work for them here too.

He said that this reflects their business strategy, to go out and help independent countries develop their own armoured vehicles by providing design and engineering assistance and offer an entire automotive solution for ‘below the hull’.

The company is now expanding an offer of complete automotive solutions for aspiring military vehicle manufacturers through technology transfer.

The Terrex 3 was developed from the common baseline vehicle and ‘up-specced’ so that it can handle more armour.

Not only has Timoney been heavily involved in building Terrex prototypes for STK, they supported Lockheed Martin with a design in their bid for the USMC ACV1.1, which LM built in Dallas; and they have helped state-run Emirates Defence Technology build their 8x8 called Enigma that was displayed at IDEX in 2015.

Although Wilkins is not able to say where the Enigma vehicle in the UAE was built he said that the 8x8 was heading for summer trials this year.

The company also 100% designed the Bushmaster vehicle, better known as the vehicle product marketed by Thales Australia, which actually builds it under license.


Timoney is now offering an entire powerpack and build prototypes for their customers. The latest partnership announced at Eurosatory is with Yugoimport-SDPR, which is developing its new Lazar 8x8 vehicle with Timoney, which has designed the driveline, axles, steering system and transfer case.

An initial set of 12 vehicles has been contracted with further orders expected. Texelis, which is Timoney’s production partner, is building the vehicles but they hope for more work to come to Navan.

The Terrex vehicle has gone through three variations. The first that Timoney helped design was the 24t vehicle, which was then updated to a 26t vehicle, which was demonstrated in the US for the USMC ACV1.1 programme.

The result of this testing was new specifications developed for the USMC with a new driveline that brought the vehicle up to 28t.Two prototypes were built by Timoney, P1 and P2 that were funded by STK to help them achieve a downselect for ACV.

For this programme they are now building 16 vehicles for further trials and it was one of these that was displayed at Singapore. 

Timoney does not just do 8x8s, the company is active in the smaller armoured vehicle markets too working on 4x4 and 6x6 vehicles. They are with Polish company PGZ on 4x4s and are taking the UAE concept further to provide a driveable rolling chassis that can be used to develop MRAP-type vehicles.

Vietnam Wishes to Buy French's Gowind Warship Rather than Sigma 9814

PT Pindad melakukan penanda-tanganan kerjasama dengan perusahaan Kongsberg dari Norwegia dalam pembuatan RCWS yang akan diproduksi di PT Pindad, Bandung.

"Berjabat tangan setelah menandatangani kerjasama RCWS dengan Kongsberg dari Norwegia. Alutsista tsb (lihat background) akan diproduksi di Pindad." itulah yang ditulis oleh Dirut PT Pindad Silmy Karim dalam situs sosial medianya.

RCWS seperti gambar diatas bertipe Protector Nordic yang pernah tampil dalam pameran Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) DSEI 2015 di London. 

Protector Nordic adalah RCWS kaliber 7.62mm paling handal keluaran Kongsberg yang memiliki tambahan fitur Day Camera VIS 95 with 95 field of view dan Infrared Aim Laser (850 nm), yang juga dibuat oleh Kongsberg.

Sokol helicopter engines up for maintenance

In line with efforts to ensure the airworthiness and mission capability of all its available aircraft, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) is looking for service providers capable of repairing and overhauling the PZL engine (series 3) of its W-3A "Sokol" helicopters.

Budget for the project is placed at PHP38.9 million.

PAF bids and awards committee chair Brig. Gen. Nicolas Parilla said the bid opening and submission is on July 8, at 9 a.m. at the PAF Procurement Center Conference Room, Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

The PAF has around seven W-3A helicopters in its inventory. They were acquired during 2011-2012 period as part of the Air Force's ongoing modernization program.

The "Sokol" can fly at more than 140 knots while the older UH-1 "Hueys" can only do 120 knots.

It also has a 14,100 pound payload compared to the UH-1's 9,500 pound lifting capability. It is manufactured by Augusta PZL Swidnik of Poland.

It has enough space for two pilots, two crewmen, three medical attendants and six passengers.

Australian PC-21s to Get TERPROM

Pilatus has selected UTC Aerospace Systems' TERPROM terrain referenced navigation (TRN) system for the Australian Defense Force's (ADF) Pilatus PC-21 training aircraft. UTC Aerospace announced the selection on 13 June.

The system will be fitted on all 49 ADF PC-21 aircraft, providing trainee crews with obstruction warning and cueing, predictive ground collision avoidance and drift-free terrain referenced navigation. 

TERPROM offers TRN capabilities for navigation, including in GPS-denied and low-level environments. It uses a loaded digital map and on-board sensors for ground collision avoidance and obstruction warning, while maintaining zero forward electronic emissions.

UTC Aerospace Systems will also provide simulator software for the ADF's ground-based training equipment.

Kevin Pindard, managing director, UTC Aerospace Systems Sensors and Integrated Systems, said: ‘This combination of ground-based and airborne TERPROM software allows us to support our customer, Pilatus, in delivering world-class pilot training to the ADF. With this innovative technology already in use on the Australian jet trainers, there is commonality for crew across training systems.’

Singapore Army Unveils New PCSV Armored Vehicle

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) unveils new Protected Combat Support Vehicle (PCSV) for for the motorised infantry forces.  The PCSV will be commissioned by 2017.

The PCSV will provide improved firepower, protection and situational awareness for motorised infantry combat support and combat service support forces.

The key features of the PCSV include:

Increased Payload. The protected vehicles can carry a payload of up to 4,000kg. This allows the PCSV to be configured to carry modular load such as mortar systems, battalion casualty stations and combat supplies for different combat support and combat service support functions.

Stronger Firepower. The protected vehicles are equipped with a 7.62mm Remote Machine Gun, which is operated from within the cabin, thereby protecting soldiers who are operating the weapon from exposure to hostile fires.

Better Protection. The vehicles have ballistic and mine protection features to protect soldiers and to fulfil operational requirements.

Enhanced Situational Awareness and Coordination. The onboard C4 (Command, Control, Communications and Computers) suite of systems allow rapid information exchange with all friendly forces, increasing command and control and survivability on the battlefield. The recently commissioned Army Battlefield Internet will allow the Protected Combat Support Vehicles and Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicles to operate on a common network, enabling the SAF’s motorised infantry forces to fight together in an integrated manner.

Australian LHDs to be Armed with Latest-Configuration Phalanx CIWS

Government approval has been received to install up to three Raytheon Phalanx 20 mm close-in weapon systems (CIWS) on both of the Royal Australian Navy's (RAN's) 27,500-tonne Canberra-class landing helicopter dock (LHD) vessels.

Commodore Rob Elliott, director general for Surface Combatants and Aviation within the RAN's Strategic Command, told IHS Jane's on 5 July that the number of mounts depended on final design and radar cross-section analysis. Installation, he added, was unlikely to begin before 2018 at the earliest.

This is also the anticipated date for the return from the United States of the first of the RAN's current inventory of 12 Phalanx mounts after being upgraded to the Block 1B Baseline 2 configuration.

AFP to Acquire 145 Units of Reflex Sights

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is allocating the sum of PHP4,177,450 for the acquisition of 145 units of reflex sights.

The latter is optical device that allows the user to look through a partially reflecting glass element and see an illuminated projection of an aiming point or some other image superimposed on the field of view.

The items will be attached to some of the assault rifles in its inventory.

Bid opening is on July 21, 9:00 a.m. at the General Headquarters-Bids and Awards Committee Conference Room, 3/F Bulwagang Syquio, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, BAC GHQ analyst Dona May DC Tauro said in a bid bulletin posted at the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System.

Winning bidders must be able to deliver the items within 140 calendar days.

Meggitt Training Systems Wins Australian Defence Force Contract for Weapon Simulators

Meggitt PLC (“Meggitt” or “the Group”), a leading international company specialising in high performance components and sub-systems for the aerospace, defence and energy markets announces that Meggitt Training Systems has been awarded an $18 million USD contract from the Australian Defence Force’s Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group. Meggitt will develop, manufacture and install 460 EF88 Steyr assault rifle simulators and 115 SL40 40mm simulated grenade launchers.

“We have supplied, operated and maintained the ADF’s Weapon Training Simulation System since 1999 and this latest weapons simulator award further validates Meggitt’s long-standing strategic partnership with the Australian Defence Force,” said Chris Jordan, Managing Director, Meggitt Training Systems, Australia.

Contract deliveries will take place at 18 locations throughout Australia to support Army, Navy and Air Force training requirements and are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2017 and continue through May 2018.

F-15SG Singapura : Varian Eagle Terkuat

Inilah F-15 Terkuat di Muka Bumi: F-15SG Singapura

Tanpa banyak diketahui orang, RSAF (Republic of Singapore Air Force) mengoperasikan sejumlah pesawat tempur canggih yang tidak ada tandingannya di Asia Tenggara. Salah satunya adalah F-15SG, varian Eagle yang paling buas dan bernas.

Pemerintah Singapura mencari kandidat pengganti A-4S Skyhawk dan F-5S/T sejak 1995, dengan pandangan bahwa keunggulan teknologi akan menjaga Singapura dari lawan-lawannya. Setelah 7 tahun masa seleksi, RSAF mengumumkan bahwa F-15E menjadi juara, mengalahkan Typhoon, Rafale, dan Su-35. Kunci kemenangannya adalah jarak jangkau, dimana F-15E dengan CFT (Conformal Fuel Tank) dan tangki bahan bakar cadangan mampu mencapai jarak 3.840 km. Boeing akan membangun F-15E menjadi varian khusus F-15SG sesuai kemauan RSAF.

Singapura membeli F-15SG secara bertahap, awalnya 12 pesawat, berlanjut 12 lagi pada 2007. Semua dibeli melalui program Peace Carvin V dan dibayar melalui skema pembelian komersial dan tidak mengandalkan FMS. Ada rumor yang beredar bahwa sesungguhnya total F-15SG yang dimiliki oleh Singapura mencapai 40 pesawat, dan bukannya 24 seperti diakui secara resmi.

RSAF memang berusaha keras untuk tidak menyinggung tetangga-tetangganya yang mudah jatuh dalam krisis identitas kalau melihat Singapura dan Angkatan Bersenjatanya yang kuat. Penempatan F-15SG dipecah-pecah, dengan satu detasemen gabungan 428th Fighter Squadron di Mountain Home AFB, Idaho yang disebut detasemen Peace Carvin V.

Secara bertahap F-15SG dipindahkan ke Singapura dan saat ini sudah ada 2 skadron aktif di Singapura, 142nd Sqn “Gryphon” dan 149th “Shikra” di Paya Lebar. Dengan jumlah kekuatan sebegitu besar, maka jumlah 40 F-15SG itu bisa jadi benar.

Boeing membangun F-15SG dengan mengambil basis pada F-15E Strike Eagle, menggunakan pola pilot dan WSO (Weapon Systems Officer) untuk mengoperasikan radar dan sistem persenjataannya. Baik pilot maupun WSO mampu mengendalikan pesawat. WSO diperlukan untuk dapat menjinakkan radar APG-63(V)3 AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) dengan beam steering controller yang merupakan radar tercanggih di varian F-15.

APG-63(V)3 bukanlah satu-satunya pengendus pada F-15SG, dimana F-15SG sendiri selalu membawa dua jenis pod. Yang pertama adalah pod navigasi dengan TFR (Terrain Following Radar) yang memampukan F-15SG untuk terbang mengikuti kontur permukaan tanah, serta FLIR (Forward Looking Infra Red) untuk melihat dalam kondisi cuaca buruk.

Pod satu lagi adalah sistem targeting pod Sniper-XR yang dilengkapi dengan teknologi targeting FLIR Tiger Eyes untuk melihat sasaran di darat dalam kondisi segala cuaca. Pada bagian atas Sniper-XR terdapat lensa yang menggelembung, yang merupakan pod IRST (Infra Red Scan and Track) untuk mendeteksi sasaran udara secara pasif tanpa harus bergantung pada radar.


Di luar avionik yang diumumkan, F-15SG memiliki sejumlah tonjolan antena yang tidak diumumkan jenisnya, termasuk antena berbentuk segitiga di bawah kokpit WSO yang ada di sisi kiri ataupun kanan, yang mungkin merupakan antena datalink, sistem electronic warning, atau sistem RWR.

F-15SG ditenagai dengan mesin General Electric F-110-GE-129 yang menyemburkan daya 29.000 pon sebuahnya, sama seperti F-15K. Hal ini dimungkinkan karena F-15SG dirakit di lini perakitan Boeing Korea. Avionik untuk F-15SG meiliputi kokpit yang dibuat kompatibel dengan pengoperasian NVG, dengan panel-panel NVG disediakan oleh L-3 Communication.

Pilot dan WSO F-15SG dapat membidikkan rudal AIM-9X secara off boresight menggunakan JHMCS (Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems) tanpa perlu susah-payah mengunci sasaran dengan menggunakan HUD. F-15SG sendiri sudah menggunakan standar Link-16 untuk melaksanakan pertempuran dalam jaringan manajemen yang saling terhubung sehingga informasi sasaran bisa dibagi antar pesawat.

Untuk kemampuan gotong senjata, F-15SG dapat membawa sampai delapan rudal udara-udara untuk profil superioritas udara, atau sampai 15 bom untuk misi serang darat. Total payload yang dapat dibawa adalah 23.000 pon. RSAF membekali F-15SG dengan sejumlah persenjataan dalam jumlah yang memadai, termasuk 200 rudal AIM-9X dan 200 unit AIM-120C7 AMRAAM.

Kemampuan serang darat presisi disediakan oleh 720 unit bom GBU-38, 670 unit kit pemandu untuk GBU-28 dan 670 kit untuk GBU-54. dan 60 unit AGM-154 JSOW (Joint Stand Off Weapon). Dengan jumlah persenjataan sebanyak ini, rasanya bekal F-15SG dalam mempertahankan wilayah udara dan darat Singapura dari ancaman lawan akan sangat, sangat memadai.

Terakhir, detasemen Peace Carvin V yang dipangkalkan di Amerika Serikat berhasil mencatatkan prestasi dengan meraih Overall Best Squadron Award dalam latihan gabungan AS-Singapura Gunfighter Flag 16-1 yang diadakan pada  April di Idaho.

Selain skadron, sejumlah personilnya menjadi juara, seperti Letnan Calum Quek yang menjadi pilot terbaik dan menyandang air to air top gun, Letnan Lee Wei Yuen yang menjadi Top overall WSO (Weapons System Officer), Kapten Tan Oon Sing yang menjadi top air to ground top gun WSO, Letnn Marvin Koh Ren Jie sebagai top overall wingman, dan top crew chief yaitu ME 2 Teoh Teck Lee.

Ukraine Will Deliver Remaining 39 Oplot Tanks To Thailand In March Next Year

Ukraine will be able to deliver the remaining 39 T-84 tanks to Thailand in March next year, Ukrainian ambassador to Thailand reassured and cited unrest in eastern Ukraine as a reason for the delay.

Ukraine ambassador to Thailand Andrii Beshta gave the assurance to Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon during a meeting at the Defence Ministry on Wednesday, ministry spokesman Kongcheep Tantrawanit was quoted as saying by Bangkokpost.

The army announced the procurement of 49 T-84 Oplot tanks in 2011, but Ukraine has till date delivered only 10. The value of the deal was not known but some reports put it at $240 million.

The ambassador told Gen Prawit that internal political turmoil had affected Ukraine’s defence industry and caused delays in weapons shipments to customer countries, including Thailand. "Now that the situation has improved and Kiev’s arms industry can now proceed, the country will be able to deliver the backlog of Oplot battle tanks to the Royal Thai Army in time," Maj Gen Kongcheep quoted Beshta as saying.

Clashes between government forces and pro-Russian rebels in the former Soviet republic's war-torn east has killed more than 9,000 since April 2014. The fighting, however, has eased since a fragile truce was reached last September.

Ukraine is willing to expand partnership in the national defence industry with Thailand, including military technology transfer and a possible joint venture with Bangkok to build a plant to manufacture and repair armoured vehicles.

Beshta supported the government's roadmap to democracy and invited Gen Prawit to pay an official visit to Ukraine to strengthen ties between the defence ministries of the two countries, Maj Gen Kongcheep said.

Myanmar Interested in MI-17V5 Helicopters

A delegation from the Republic of Myanmar Defense Ministry, headed by Air Force Major General Khin Aung Myint, visited the Kazan Helicopters facility of the Russian Helicopters Holding.

The delegation inspected the facility's recently upgraded sites, including modular assembly and paint shops, as well as a stationary helicopter exhibition. The guests were presented Mi-17V-5 and Ansat helicopters in medical, passenger, and VIP versions. In addition, demonstration flights of the aforementioned helicopters were arranged specially for the delegation, Rostec said in a statement Friday.

"Today the Asia-Pacific region market is one of the most important for the Holding due to the constant demand for Russian helicopters. We are prepared to offer regional helicopter operators serial products and new-generation helicopters," Alexander Shcherbinin, Russian Helicopters' Deputy CEO for Marketing and Business Development, noted.

Nearly 1,500 fixed-wing aircraft made by Kazan Helicopters are operated in the Asia-Pacific region. The enterprise has been delivering Mi-17 type helicopters to Myanmar since 1995.

Over the many years of cooperation, Myanmar's MoD has received almost 20 Mi-17 type helicopters in various versions. Moreover, the aircraft were supported with spare parts and training provided by foreign specialists.

This week the Myanmar MoD delegation is planning to visit Rostvertol to evaluate the enterprise's production facilities.

Currently, the Russian Helicopters Holding maintains four Mi-24P transport military helicopters that belong to the Myanmar Air Force within the framework of an agreement reached in 2015. The parties may conclude additional contracts subject to successful completion of the maintenance.

Empat penerbang tim aerobatik TNI AU, The Jupiters, mengunjungi sarang tim aerobatik AU Australia, The Roulettes, di Central Flying School, RAAF Base East Sale, Victoria, Australia. Dalam kunjungan mempererat persahabatan pada 26 Juni – 1 Juli 2016 itu, keempat penerbang The Jupiters sempat menjajal pesawat Pilatus PC-9/A yang biasa digunakan The Roulettes untuk atraksi jungkir balik di udara.

Letkol Pnb H.M “Razor” Kisha, Letkol Pnb H.S “Condor” Romas, Mayor Pnb Marcell “Liger” Dirgantara, dan Mayor Pnb Frando “Fennec” Marpaung, keempat penerbang The Jupiters yang diutus, masing-masing mencoba performa PC-9/A dengan melaksanakan berbagai manuver bersama para penerbang The Roulettes. Seperti low level aerobatic, solo aerobatic, maupun formation.

Perbedaan pesawat KT-1B yang digunakan The Jupiters dengan PC-9A, ternyata tidak menyulitkan para penerbang TNI AU dari Wing Pendidikan Terbang (Wingdikter) Lanud Adisutjipto, Yogyakarta itu untuk beradaptasi. Hal itu dikatakan oleh Romas mewakili tim sebagaimana dikutip Penerangan Lanud Adisutjipto. “Perbedaan performance antara pesawat Pilatus PC-9 dengan KT-1B Woong Bee yang kami gunakan bukanlah suatu halangan untuk dapat menampilkan manuver aerobatik dengan baik,” ungkap Romas.



Selain untuk mempererat persahabatan, kunjungan tim The Jupiters ke sarang The Roulettes juga untuk melaksanakan observasi dan perbandingan bagaimana The Roulettes melakukan metode regenerasi anggotanya. Maka dari itu, kunjungan tersebut disesuaikan waktunya dengan masa work-up period dari The Roulettes, yakni masa dimana The Roulettes melaksanakan regenerasi tim.

Wingdikter Lanud Adisutjipto dengan Central Flying School, RAAF memiliki kesamaan karena kedua lembaga merupakan tempat dimana masing-masing pilot kedua Angkatan Udara dibentuk, khususnya para instruktur penerbang. Demikian juga dengan para personel tim aerobatik kedua AU, dipilih dari para instruktur penerbang yang ada di kedua kawah candradimuka tersebut.

Dari sisi tampilan pesawat walau KT-1B dan PC-9/A beda pabrikan, sekilas tampak mirip kedua pesawat latih dasar tersebut. The Jupiters dan The Roulettes juga sama-sama memilih warna merah-putih sebagai warna kebesaran tim. Lainnya, The Roulettes punya kelir warna biru dan huruf “R” di ekor tegak pesawat.

Tahun 2010, The Roulettes pernah diundang Kementerian Pertahanan RI dan didaulat melukis langit Jakarta saat tampil di ajang Indo Defence 2010.

The Department of National Defense (DND) is allocating the sum of PHP80,400,000 for the procurement the “Virtual-Tactical Engagement Simulation System Lot 2” (Virtual TESS) for the use of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. This includes initial Integrated Logistics Support for the equipment.

Prospective bidders must have completed a similar project five years from the date of submission and receipt of bids, said DND bids and awards committee vice-chair Director Nebuchadnezzar S. Alejandrino. Pre-bid conference is scheduled for July 19, 10:00 a.m. at the DND BAC Conference Room, Basement, DND Building, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

While bid opening is on Aug. 2, 10:00 a.m. at the same venue. Winning bidder must be able to deliver the items within 180 calendar days upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed.

Tactical Engagement Simulation System is a training system for using weapons. Laser transmitters are usually used instead of bullets, larger rounds, or shorter-range guided weapons. A laser transmitter is mounted on the weapon and aligned with the weapon’s barrel.

Events in the training are recorded on the exercise computer. After-Action Review (AAR) can include comprehensive analysis of weapon firing, accuracy and warhead effects on the targets. Such techniques have taken much speculation out of the assessment of field exercises and have resulted in more realistic training than used to be available other than by using (dangerous) live firing.

Pasca-kecelakaan, Delapan Helikopter Tua TNI AD "Dikandangkan"

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Panglima TNI Jenderal Gatot Nurmantyo melarang delapan helikopter milik TNI Angkatan Darat digunakan untuk aktivitas pengamanan.

Delapan unit helikopter itu memiliki jenis dan usia yang sama dengan helikopter yang jatuh di Dusun Kowang, Desa Tamanmartini, Kecamatan Kalasan, Kabupaten Sleman, Yogyakarta 8 Juli 2016 lalu.

Adapun helikopter yang jatuh itu berjenis Bell 205 A-1 dan sudah berusia 37 tahun.

"Kami punya delapan dan itu untuk operasional semua. Tapi saya bilang itu hanya boleh untuk latihan saja," ujar Gatot di Kompleks Istana Kepresidenan Jakarta, Senin (11/7/2016).

Seiring dengan itu, TNI terus mengadakan (alutsista) alat utama sistem persenjataan secara bertahap sebagai pengganti unit yang sudah tua.

"Sementara itu, pengadaan bertahap. Kan tidak seperti beli tahu, beli tempe," ujar Gatot.

Mesin rusak

Soal helikopter yang jatuh dan menewaskan tiga penumpangnya di Sleman, Gatot mengatakan, masih menunggu hasil investigasi internal untuk mengungkap penyebabnya.

Namun, dari keterangan masyarakat yang menjadi saksi jatuhnya helikopter, Panglima menduga telah terjadi kerusakan pada mesin helikopter.

"Kata masyarakat jatuhnya tanpa suara. Padahal mesinnya satu ya. Usia helikopter sudah 37 tahun, ya seharusnya tidak boleh terbang lagi," ujar Gatot.

TNI masih menunggu hasil investigasi resminya. Gatot memastikan hasil investigasi itu nantinya tidak akan bermuara ke rekomendasi penggantian alutsista.

Investigasi hanya fokus mencari penyebab jatuhnya helikopter.

Sebelumnya diberitakan, Helikopter milik TNI AD terjatuh pada Jumat (8/7/2016) sekitar pukul 15.00 WIB. Heli jatuh di Dusun Koang, Kelurahan Tamanmartani, Kalasan Sleman, Yogyakarta.

Sebanyak dua rumah warga mengalami kerusakan. Dalam peristiwa ini, tiga orang dinyatakan tewas, yakni Letda Cpn Angga Juang (Pnb II), Serda Yogi Risci Sirait (AV), dan Fransiska Agustin (sipil).

Thailand's First M58 Patrol Boat Undergoes Final Fit-out Ahead of Delivery

Thailand's first M58 patrol boat is currently undergoing its final fit-out ahead of its scheduled delivery to the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) for the latter part of the year, a Marsun official told IHS Jane's on 12 July.

The vessel, Laemsing (561), is currently being targeted for delivery in September 2016. Work to install the platform's 76/62 mm Oto Melara main gun started on the week of 5 July and tests are currently being run to ensure its integration with the ship's systems, said the company.

Laemsing was launched in August 2015 at the RTN-owned Thonburi Naval Dockyard in Bangkok. It is the largest ever platform to be built by Thai shipbuilder Marsun for the RTN.



The vessel features a length of 58 m, a beam of 9.3 m, a draught of 2.5 m, and a full-load displacement of 520 tonnes. Powered by three Caterpillar 3516C diesel engines, the platform has a top speed in excess of 24 kt.

Besides its main gun, other weapons on the platform include a stern-facing 30 mm cannon and two 12.7 mm machine guns.

Once in service, the M58 platform will likely be deployed for fisheries resources surveillance, search-and-rescue operations, and maritime patrol duties, said the company.

Perubahan Nama Batalyon Arhanudri 1/1 Kostrad

(Penkostrad. Senin, 11 Juli 2016). Mungkin banyak orang yang belum tahu tentang perubahan nama Batalyon Arhanudri 1/1 Kostrad yang digunakan mulai tahun 1976 telah berubah nama. Berdasarkan Perkasad No 66 Tahun 2014 tentang Organisasi dan Tugas Batalyon Artileri Pertahanan Udara Komposit-1 (Orgas Yonarhanud Komposit-1). Kemudian diperkuat dengan Sprint Pangkostrad dan Sprint Pangdivif 1 Kostrad tentang perubahan sebutan nama Batalyon Arhanudri 1/1 Kostrad menjadi Batalyon Arhanud 1/1 Kostrad.

Warga Batalyon Arhanud 1/1 Kostrad mengadakan acara syukuran dan potong tumpeng. Perubahan nama ini merupakan implikasi dari perubahan rencana strategis kekuatan TNI AD khususnya di bidang Pertahanan Udara dan pembaharuan Alut Sista Arhanud TNI AD, yang mana kedepannya nanti seluruh Batalyon Arhanud di Indonesia akan menjadi Batalyon Arhanud komposit, dengan senjatanya berupa Meriam dan Rudal.

Untuk menyambut perubahan nama ini Komandan Batalyon Arhanud 1/1 Kostrad, Letkol Arh Anang Hasto Utomo mengatakan perlu mengadakan syukuran dan peringatan pergantian nama Batalyon. Beliau mengatakan perubahan nama merupakan suatu perubahan sejarah Batalyon dan akan selalu diingat oleh prajurit penerus nantinya. Hal ini juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sebuah momen untuk membulatkan tekad agar dapat bersama-sama berjuang membela kepentingan Bangsa dan Negara dengan membawa nama baik satuan Yonarhanud 1/1 Kostrad. 

Acara ini diawali dengan kegiatan Sholat Maghrib berjamaah di Masjid Al Ma’rifat, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan yasinan  sampai dengan pelaksanaan Sholat Isya berjamaah. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan acara potong tumpeng sebagai rasa syukur  perubahan nama baru Batalyon.

Thales Introduces Malaysia's New Ship-Launched UAV

Thales has revealed its new Fulmar X unmanned air vehicle at the Farnborough show, and is preparing to deliver the first two systems to launch customer the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency by the end of the year.

Six of the UAVs were ordered by the agency in October 2015, and have been acquired to operate from its New Generation Patrol Craft vessel. All aircraft will be delivered by mid-2017.

Speaking at the show, Matt Moore, UAV product line manager at Thales, said the 20kg (44lb) carbonfibre aircraft has a 43nm (80km) range and 3m (9.8ft) wingspan, and can carry a payload of up to 4kg. It is currently integrated with an electro-optical sensor, but Thales is planning to introduce a radar for the system with third party suppliers.

“It is a very light and small capability, but that is deceiving in terms of capability,” Moore says.

Fulmar X is launched by catapult and recovered by net to allow for ship-based operations. It also uses a Thales-designed heavy-fuel engine and a stabilised communications system. Ship-based developmental testing was carried out in Spain, including landing the UAV on a moving target.

The most tangible customer for Fulmar X after Malaysia is the Spanish military, and Thales expects a decision by the middle of next year.

The new UAV builds on the earlier Fulmar system, developed by the Spanish division of Thales.
