Ukraine and Thailand are considering the possibility of establishing military and technical cooperation in the area of the procurement, maintenance, and joint development of aircraft.

Representatives of the two countries discussed the prospects for extending bilateral cooperation at the international exhibition Defense & Security 2013, which was held in Bangkok on November 4-7, Interfax-Ukraine learned at the press service of the Ukroboronprom State Concern on Monday.

The Thais voiced interest in the use by the Royal Thai police of air surveillance planes produced by Odesa Aircraft Plant and the Research and Design Bureau of General Aviation (Odesa) - Dolphin-type light patrol aircraft and T-32 and T 2M Maverick ultralight trikes.

The possibility of servicing the Aero L-39 Albatros jet trainer aircraft of the Royal Thai Air Force in Ukraine was raised during the talks with representatives of the Thai Aviation Industry company.

At a meeting with the leadership of the Thai Defense Ministry, the parties discussed the prospects for jointly creating drone that could be produced in Ukraine.

The issue of cooperation in upgrading and repairing Thai military aircraft was raised during a meeting of Ukrainian delegates with Commander of the Thai Air Force Prajin Jantong.

In recent years Ukraine has been actively developing military and technical cooperation with Thailand. The contracts concluded with Thailand in 2006-2011 for supplies of Ukrainian military hardware, in particular BTR-3E1 armored personnel carriers and Oplot tanks, are being implemented today, and are estimated to be worth $500 million.
