Two Philippine Air Force (PAF) programmes to procure long-range patrol aircraft (LRPA) and close-air support (CAS) aircraft have both been hit by delays but are expected to progress soon, an official from the Department of National Defense (DND) has confirmed to IHS Jane's .
The DND public affairs official confirmed that factors causing delays include the recent change in the Philippines government, funding issues, and foreign bidders failing to meet the technical and financial requirements of the DND. The two latter factors are regarded as major causes of delays in the ongoing Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernisation programme.
