HANOI (Xinhua)-- Vietnamese People's Navy on Thursday held a flag-raising ceremony of its first sailing vessel in Nha Trang City in central Khanh Hoa Province, some 1,040 km south of capital Hanoi.

This is the first modern sailing vessel of Vietnamese Navy with missions of training at sea and other military diplomacy activities, reported Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People's Army), an online newspaper of Vietnamese Ministry of Defense.

The vessel, 286-Le Quy Don, is 67 meters long, 10 meters wide and displacement of 857 tons. The vessel has three masts, each of which is over 40 meters tall. The ship has a total area of 1,400 square meters.

The vessel, which was built in Poland since July 2014, had its first voyage from Poland's Gdansk and arrived in Vietnam in late January 2016, according to the report.
