Several military projects are awaiting the issuance of notices of award by the Defense Department. That are the air surveillance radars worth P2.68 bilion (Elta System Ltd.), Marine Forces Imagery and Targeting Support System Acquisition Project or drones worth P684 million (Triton Communication Corp), eight amphibious assault vehicles worth P2.5-billion (Hanwha Techwin), and Air Force full motion flight simulators worth P246 million (Environmental Tectonics Corp).
Last November President Benigno S. Aquino III has given DND the green-light to go into a “multi-year contract”, Payment for the projects will run from 2015 to 2018. Projects placed under the “multi-year contract” include :
-two Navy frigates worth P18-billion;
-six close air support aircraft worth P4.97 billion;
-two units of long range patrol aircraft worth P5.98 billion;
-multi-purpose attack craft project worth P864.32 million;
-night fighting system worth P1.116 billion;
-two C-130 aircraft worth P1.6 billion;
-two naval helicopters worth P5.4 billion;
-lead-in fighter trainer jets ammunition worth P4.47 billion; and
-four basing support system and logistics projects with a total budget of P2.15 billion.
For the Close Air Support aircraft, the DND opted to retendered this project for the third time.
The DND/AFP now invites bids for the acquisition of six Close Air Support aircraft. The project involves the acquisition of six Close Air Support aircraft with the corresponding Initial Logistics Support (ILS) package.
These aircraft shall be capable of performing Close Air Support (CAS) air operations during day and night. The guiding principles for this project shall be based on affordability and sustainability while conforming to the requirements of the Philippine Air Force in furtherance of accomplishing its mission.
Delivery schedule of the CAS aircraft is required within a period of 19 months (575 days calendar) for the first three (3) aircraft and 24 months (730 days calendar) for the remaining three (3) aircraft from the contract effectivity.
Bid submission and opening is now scheduled on January 27, 2016.
