The Babcock International Group has secured a NZD300 million (USD230 million) contract from the New Zealand Ministry of Defence (MoD) to provide through-life engineering support services for the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN), industry officials confirmed to IHS Jane's on 23 April.
Under the terms of the renewed contract, Babcock New Zealand will assume the role of prime systems integrator for RNZN vessels over the next seven years. Work under the contract will be carried out at the RNZN base in Devonport, Auckland, officials said.
The contract sees Babcock continuing its operation and management of the Devonport dockyard on behalf of the RNZN, through which the company also provides surface ship maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.
